SUMMARY:

Performs responsible managerial, administrative, and professional work directing the operations of the tourism development function.

 

An employee in this classification is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing tourism-related initiatives for Granville County. Core duties include program administration, marketing, public relations, strategic planning, and visitor engagement, all carried out with a strong customer service focus.

 

This position serves as contracted staff to the Tourism Development Authority (TDA) Board and requires building effective working relationships with TDA Board members, community and business leaders, and stakeholders within the tourism industry. Responsibilities also include developing and managing budgets, overseeing contracts, conducting research, preparing plans and marketing strategies, and tracking and reporting statistical data.

 

The employee represents the County and its tourism interests to the Board of County Commissioners, professional associations, the State Tourism Division, trade shows, and various Boards and committees. The role requires considerable independent judgment, initiative, and a comprehensive understanding of the travel and tourism industry. Strong public engagement skills, along with tact and diplomacy, are essential when working with community organizations, officials, and prospective partners.

 

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Economic Development Director and is evaluated based on program effectiveness and reporting outcomes.
