Position: Industrial Property Intern

 

SUMMARY:

The North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region is seeking an Industrial Property Intern to join our team in the summer of 2026. This is an in-person internship based at our office at the N.C. Global TransPark in Kinston, North Carolina. The selected candidate will work directly with our economic development professionals and gain hands-on experience in industrial site development and business recruitment.

 

This position is NOT remote. The intern will work in our office alongside staff and participate in meetings, company visits, and special events. Regular in-person attendance is required.

 

Location: 2780 Jetport Road, Suite D, Kinston, North Carolina

 

The intern must work in-person at this location at least four days per week.

 

Schedule and Duration:

  • Start Date: Monday, May 18, 2026 (flexible)
  • End Date: Late July 2026 (20 hours per week)
  • Four days per week
  • Five hours per day
  • Maximum of 200 total hours

Compensation: $17.50 per hour

Total compensation not to exceed $3,500

This position is classified as an independent contractor. The selected individual will be responsible for paying their own federal and state taxes. No employee benefits will be provided.

 

Internship Focus

The Industrial Property Internship will focus on supporting and improving our internal industrial site and property systems. The intern will work closely with our economic development team to strengthen how we track, analyze, and manage site data.

Responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and organizing an industrial site database
  • Reviewing past business recruitment lead entries
  • Reviewing past due diligence files for accuracy and completeness
  • Cleaning and standardizing data fields to improve internal efficiency
  • Analyzing real estate listings and ensuring files are complete and current
  • Assisting staff with special events and company visits
  • Learning the fundamentals of industrial economic development through direct, in-person experience

This role is designed to provide real exposure to how industrial economic development works in Eastern North Carolina.

 

Qualifications

  • Junior or senior level college student or graduate student
  • Strong interest in economic development, real estate, planning, public administration, business, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with data
  • Professional demeanor and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work in-person in Kinston, North Carolina at least four days per week
