NCEDA presents an annual award to the individual who best exemplifies leadership in the state’s economic development efforts. The North Carolina Emerging Leader of the Year award is given in recognition of the winner’s contributions to expansions and projects completed during the previous calendar year.

NCEDA named NC Biotechnology Center Director of Life Science Economic Development, Dr. Laura Rowley, it’s 2020 Emerging Leader of the Year.

“Laura’s extensive knowledge of science and biotechnology, combined with her drive for excellence and passion for developing strong relationships, has provided North Carolina a competitive advantage in growing life science jobs and investment,” said Bill Bullock, the Biotech Center’s Senior Vice President, and Laura’s nominator.

As Director of Life Science Economic Development, Laura is responsible for leading efforts to create, manage and measure programs leveraging North Carolina’s technology based assets to attract and retain life science jobs and investments.
