Youngkin Wants Va. on Offense When it Comes to Economic Development

Fresh off his upset victory in Virginia’s high-profile elections, Republican Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin is embracing a beefed-up economic development strategy for the Old Dominion. “Blueprint Virginia 2030” focuses on 11 areas, including workforce and education, infrastructure, military affairs, resiliency, energy, housing, corporate sustainability and environment, life sciences, technology and advanced manufacturing. “I do not want Virginia to be on defense. I want Virginia to be on offense,” Youngkin said upon the plan’s formal unveiling in Richmond last week. “When Team Virginia plays, Team Virginia will win. I’m tired of seeing jobs go to Maryland and Tennessee and North Carolina and South Carolina and Georgia and, not to mention, Texas. We’re going to start winning, and we’re going to start winning big time.”
